Covid 19 Safety Protocols

The safety and health of all our athletes, their families, & our coaches is our most important priority. We have and will continue to follow the guidelines outlined by San Mateo County to meet and/or exceed expectations.

The County of San Mateo has asked all sports-related activities to follow guidelines to ensure the safety of our players and the coaching staff. These guidelines may come off as intimidating but they are extra precautions to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe during their time with us!

The steps were taking are as follows:

Health precautions:

  • Operations must be carried out in stable groups of 12 or fewer children, meaning that the same 12 or fewer children are in the same group each day and for at least four consecutive weeks.
  • Children may not change from one group to another or attend more than one childcare establishment, summer camp, other educational or recreational instruction or program simultaneously.
  • If more than one group of children is at one facility, each group must be in separate rooms or spaces that cannot be accessed by children or adults outside the stable group. Groups should not mix with each other.
  • Providers, educators and other staff cannot serve more than one group of children and must remain solely with that group of children.
  • Each group must have its own set of supplies, games, and other equipment and not share it with other groups.

Evolution rules and guidelines:

  • All practices will be held outside until further notice.
  • All players will have temperatures taken before practice via infrared, contactless thermometers.
  • Players will be asked to sanitize their hands before and after practice.
  • Players will be asked to bring their own ball to practice during the first two weeks.
  • There will be zero contact during this two week period.
  • If player or players family member has been sick or had flu like symptoms in the past two weeks you will be asked to stay home from practice until cleared by Operations Manager Kristen Johnson or Director John Schrup.

As we inch closer to the next phase of activities we will be allowing the following in strict conjunction with the County’s guidelines:

  • Contact practices including, scrimmages and other basketball related drills
  • All balls and equipment will be sterilized before and after practice.

Please note: During this time we will still be adhering to San Mateo County and Evolution Basketball guidelines.

Questions you may have for us:

Many of you may ask how the tournaments will work when they do start up again. The only information we currently have is all participating teams will be asked to articulate to all players and families prior to games if anyone in a players household has had flu like symptoms in the last two weeks that they will be told they cannot participate in games. Once teams arrive, players and parents will have fevers checked and will be asked if they have been sick or have had family members sick. Lastly, parents will be asked to socially distance inside gym. (Sanitizing will occur before and after games).

Thank you again for trusting us to keep your children safe during this time.
